I probably wrong but I thought rhe z3 speed sensor was on the diff output? If it is then you should be able to calculate pulses per mile...

My idea for the doors was to bolt 'L' brackets to the door. Problem with that idea is that the door gap at the back edge is quite close...

Is it the base of the mirror that is wobbly on the door? Or is it the mirror itself that wobbles while the base is fixed good on the door?

They can be. But it's also possible to do it on a shoestring if you can do it yourself so don't include your ManHours in the cost...
