Kai’s been waiting a while for us to have a look at his 2.8. Also strangely picked up a couple more extra faults after others have played with it recently. Saturday we got her in and up in the air, found out pretty quickly various issues and their causes. We’re going to give everything a refresh...
Listing my girlfriend’s BMW Z4. This has been a brilliant car for her over the last couple years she’s owned it. We’ve done so much mechanical work on her to really make it tidy. We have 4 cars and don’t have the room so having to slim the fleet down.
In the last 12 months:
New Sachs shocks...
So this Zed came in for a quick n dirty but once up in the air we realised this needed a lot more love. Long story short she’s spent most of her life in Scotland and I’m guessing somewhere near the coast, I don’t think I’ve seen this much corrosion on a 70k mile car.
So we don’t waste the time...
I have a genuine set of sport springs. Freshly grit blasted, hot Zinc’d and then coated black. As people know very hard to come by.
Prefer collection or £200 plus postage.
This has been a lovely car to work on. @MuttyMax stunning pre facelift very well spec’d 2.8TU, quite strange to find a pre facelift 1998 car fitted with the TU twin Vanos engine, we’ve given up trying to see if BMW had a pattern in the middle years of the builds.
So this Zed had the wobbly...
So continuing on the theme I’ve had an influx of people wanting their zeds to feel a bit more confident and not so scatty on the road. I’ve been fixing this by replacing the beam bushes and diff bush along with a Meyle HD kit up front and new shocks all round. The recipe is working wonders so...
This week I took delivery Adrian’s stunning 3.0 Zed, this car is in fantastic condition so taking her apart has been a joy. She in for a whole host of work. Basically a full front to back overhaul of the main mechanical items. We don’t need to powdercoat due to everything being in such good...
Heading into the third week of working permanently in the shed and I’m really flying through the backlog of projects. Were in a position to take on new projects. I’ll list the services we’re offering at the moment.
Full services: oil/filters, inc gearbox or diff brake flushes or rad flush...
Just had another batch of parts back from the coaters. This beam has been grit blasted, Hot Zinc’d then powder coated black. Can fit new beam bushes if needed.
Collection Zedshed
£150
So we’ve decided to offer a new service at the shed. As much as everyone loves reading all the shinny builds a lot of people don’t have that luxury with spare cash running into thousands.
So we’re offering a quick n dirty service, plan is to drop the subframe and replace the beam bushes and...
Nice change in the shed. Project me and a mate have started, getting his Clio built to a track standard then we’ll be playing at the Ring in May. So far she’s fully stripped, has a cage fitted buckets the lot. We’re fully stripping it mechanically and giving everything some love and...
This is a rare treat for us. A 33,000 miles from new one owner pre-facelift 2.8. This car is stunning already and just needs a front to back mechanical overhaul, bushes have gone soft etc. Also a really cool request to powder coat the running gear a dark green.
We’ll be getting her on the ramp...
Kicking off the new season in the shed we took in Gina’s 3.0. It’s a 51k mile 3.0 with exceptional history from the island of Jersey. The biggest benefit of this is they don’t salt roads out there so it’s going to be very clean and lacking corrosion.
Quick walk round. Just some nasty badges and...
Nice treat for us in the shed today. A friends diff on his supercharged Z4 had started making very strange noises. We offered for him to drop it off and leave it with us while we looked into it.
In all her glory.
The M53B30 with a lovely charger hanging off it.
Now down to the nitty gritty...
Finally after having this car 4 years my lad has outgrown it. I believe it’s now 23 years old, has some age related makes here n there. Has a new battery but needs charging. Is a single wheel drive and does around walking pace 4mph. Could do with a new pedal switch as it’s starting to sometimes...
The time has come to move Nessie on, if you’ve not read it this car has had a full front to back restoration, every bush and every nut n bolt. She’s also had some little upgrades which are only found on facelift cars.
Starting this thread off to generate some interest before getting some better...
