So i need to sort out a belt, idle tensioner and pulley for the car, but what a ar$e this is turning out to be...

just had a quote of £160 plus vat for the above 3 things... however, i need to know if its hydraulic or spring tensioner as the price will be up a fiver if hydraulic.

Im not doing the work, but iv looked on ebay and internet and found kits at £60 odd with all three,

am i missing the point here?? or are the motor factors just hiking the prices individually ?

oh and quoted 2 hours to fit.

Open the bonnet, and have look.

There are both types in 1998.

No wonder that belt is noisy looking at the state of it. If you remove the top part of the fan cowling you will be able to get a much better picture.

I changed mine in March 2023 at one of @t-tony 's Shed Days. Cost about £65 iirc and we fitted it in under an hour. Hardest part was removing the viscous fan [left hand thread] and cowling. It was the spring type not the hydraulic type. Mines a 2.2 M54 but gives you an idea.
