Hi Folks, I'm involved with this show on May 17th, my race club Herts County Auto & Aero Club ran hill climbs back in the 1920's at Aston Clinton.
Where Aston Martin got its name.
Flyer attached if interested, as well as some origional competition cars there is a shiw ground for pre 1980, clubs and supercars plus lots of space for public parking.
Hope this interests a few of you Zedders

It's an interesting coincidence but this hill near Wendover is an historic site for early motorsport just like my local one, Kop Hill in Princes Risborough. I shall try to be at the Aston Hill event and if kit is as good as Kop Hill Climb in late summer it should be an annual pilgrimage for all petrolheads with a sense of history. We lost Brighton Speed Trials a year ago and we need more events like these. The Revival is terrific, but expensive.
Incidentally, there's another Aston Hill between Stokenchurch and Lewknor and that's fun to blast up when the surface is dry! Both on the Chiltern escarpment.

Yeah, a real shame that our hills are closed down for sport. If I get a chance to nip across to Stokechurch Ill give it a blast

It was due to a spectator getting injured at Kop Hill that the Gov af the time banned motor sport on public roads.
That was 1925.

Brighton Speed Trials was allowed to become unviable by the City Council's neglect of the heritage of the Madeira Drive balcony, and the road surface of the speed trial course being too bumpy. It could have been a money spinner for the city by becoming a mini-Monaco social/motoring event. Brighton and Hove Motor Club kept it going for as long as they could despite the Greens' malign influences.

There is an irony with these events for me, having spent the first 40 years of my life around this area, now building a 1960s Ferrari replica!
I grew up in Lane End (between Wycombe and 'fraggle' (Stokenchuch)), then living in Stoken', working in Risborough and around the Aylesbury area for many years.
Now I live miles away in the Lincs fens and my car won't be finished for this Summer!
