Heater control sticking etc...

I have had the well known heater control sticking issue and have also managed to snap off the nipple on the back plate. All awkward to get to without removing the centre console, but I have managed to sort that side of things. I have seen various posts online showing the cable and how it might be adjusted to stop the door sticking in future. Right now the heater door is completely stuck and I cant shift the cable even pulling it with pliers (without ripping half the control faceplate off).

All the pics I have seen seem to be of left hand drive cars and I am struggling to follow where things are to be found on mine. I need to get to the heater door to unstick it and then the clip / clamp at the end of the cable to shorten the operating length slightly and prevent future sticking. I am guessing I have to fish around somewhere under the steering wheel to find all this on a RHD. Can anyone give me a quick accurate indication of what to remove and where to look to save me having to pull half the car apart looking?! Where do I access the heater door and that clamp on the cable?

Thanks!

Luckily (or not) I have all my heater controls exposed as I am in the process of changing them all!
I will bet the clamping clip on the heater wire has come off. I pulled mine off when messing about with it and the cable was then sticking.
The pictures show where everything is....green lever for up/down mixing flaps, red lever for windscreen/ front flaps and the plain is the heating flap (out increases heat).
The close ups are of the heater wire and the retaining clip.
Let me know if it doesn't make sense.

Thanks. I have it all sorted now- seems to be working, but I am going to be very careful never to leave it in a completely cold position to prevent further sticking. Just have to figure out how to get the glove box back in now, before giving it all a good clean and heading for Swansea at the end of this month for a new roof!
