Who has replaced seat covers. What supplier, material, cost, reviews?

I was replacing my rear window and kneeling on the seat to work the zipper around and after I noticed a new tear in my seat.

2000 z3 2.3.

thanks for the experience.

Your options are varied all depending on a number of things the main one being which seat type you have ( standard, sport seat on M seat ) then next is the colour ( some are rare hard to find) then the age standard seats have 2 different frame size ( the later being bigger)
You dont see decent 2nd hand covers for sale very often
So options really are find a local upholstery shop to fix ( if not too dear)
Find a replacement seat in better condition ( drivers always worst for wear)
Or depending on the damage fix it yourself .
You will find replacement leather etc still available special order from Bmw at scary prices.
I priced my limited edition Orinoco seat ( cream Walknappa with green piping) you have to order the upper and lower cover ( ie full seat) and it would be just over £1900 per seat so never going to be an option.
I repaired and redyed a fairly damaged bolster on an m seat to a reasonable standard using stuff from furniture clinic.
Fixed a lot of the cracks as well on the bits i was working on.
Stephen.

Thanks for the input. I am in the US, I updated my profile. There seem to be many option in three categories.
  1. Under $100 seat covers. Cheap covers
  2. $100-$200 questionable replacements of varying material
  3. advertised as OEM type quality replacement covers made of leather $400 and up.
i was looking for folks that tried these and the results.

i will be pulling the seats this week and will add pics

i have standard seats in black.

I was thinking that. I was not planning on touching the seats. I just bought this in November and plan to sell it in the spring or summer.
The panel that failed is crunchy. If only the two panels are crunchy I may try my hand at disassembling and replacing the panels.

I put them in the basement to warm up as it is frigid in the garage. I will soak the seats in some conditioner, try to recolor the small faded area, then decide to attempt to replace just the seat panels.
I would likely need to do both seats to match.

I purchased leather covers from Lseat for my sport seats. It was around $350 for both. The end result is that they look and feel better than the 25year old torn ones I had, but they don’t look perfect by ANY means.

A really good set will cost around $1200 installed.

One of my grandkids bought me some generic, not very expensive seat covers he thought would look "cool", black with red on the seat and back. They don't fit that well, but the don't blister my legs and backside in the July/August Texas heat, and I appreciate that he thought to buy them for me. I have some limited talent with a sewing machine, and at some point I'll try to alter them to fit better.

Removed the lower cover. Of the 5 panels that are on top, both middle ones are a little crunchy. The one with the new hole is the worst.

Even in the lower corner, the leather wants to crease. Maybe some leather conditioner will help.

Having put new leathers on these seats before, I wouldn’t think it’d be an easy task reinstalling the 25yo leather
