Greetings All,
I need some help/advice regarding a steering wheel situation I have.
I got an M steering wheel (thanks Andy) to replace the basic one on my 2002 (Z3) car. However after sending it away to get recovered (got a great guy to do it - £90) with M stitching etc, the chap suggested to me that the airbag on the M wheel may not work with my car. Reason being that the later cars have a two stage slip ring, versus the single stage on the older models. I am therefore wondering if any of you have experience with this issue, and can I use the single connection airbag on my car or do I have to source a two connection bag? Further is there an issue with the fitting of the older wheels versus the newer ones?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Many thanks in advance.
Liam.

The slip ring is separate to the wheel itself so just keep the slip wheel already on your car.
And if the steering wheel is physically the same shape you'll be able to keep your current airbag too.

Thanks guys,
I had a look at those. I think I therefore need a single connector slip ring, or else a double connector airbag?
Or can I ask is there anyone out there interested in swapping a latter (two stage) model M steering wheel for a lovely recovered single stage one?

??? confused ???

Not understanding why you don't just re-use the slipring and airbag from your old wheel?

The pre and post face-lift m steering wheel
( base wheel itself) is exactly the same like you have said slip ring and air bag are different.
You can fit either set yo the wheel but you will need to keep the right ones for age of zed as they are not interchangeable
ie if your zed is pre face-lift you will need a single stage airbag and slip ring
And if a face-lift you will need a two stage

Thanks again guys. Yes the airbag/wheel on my car is the standard one, so different to the M wheel airbag.
