@Jonno Bee thanks for the tip about the US Naval Base Air Museum mate. We went today and found there was a full blown air show on. Last display of the season by the Blue Angels display team (Nearly as good as the Red Arrows :))
Pensacola now their home base. Great show and lots to see, best of all completely free!!

Tony.

ps. Will add some picture later.

Glad to hear it was worth the visit Tony. Excellent timing to see the air show too.
When I was there back in '89 they had just taken delivery of an F4 Wildcat that had been salvaged from the ice cold waters of Lake Michigan. It was in very good condition having been well preserved by silt a bit like the Wellington bomber in Loch Ness.
Enjoy the rest of your holiday.

Cheers,

Jonno

Saw the Blue Angels as a kid when the flew F4 Phantoms. A wall of noise.
The USAF Thunderbirds are awesome! A must see!!!

Anyone remember the Swiss Air Force team with their Hawker Hunters?

They use F/A 18's now Ian. Hideously noisy when you're just underneath them too. As promised some pictures of the stationary ones, including a surprise British interloper with four wheels.

Here's a few more, including some nice bikes on the Geico Insurance stand. Some nice twin tail pipes too.

Some from the actual display, not great quality but you get the idea.;).

Where these two miniature ones came from flying out of this guy's hat, I've no idea.:)

And, in this one they tell you that the planes are only 18" apart !!

Brilliant show, which we didn't know was on that day (Veteran's Day) as we were just heading to the Air Museum. Gorgeous weather too and totally free..

Excellent work Tony! Cracking weather too. You have to admire the American's fastidious attention to detail in aircraft restoration and bike builds. Were any of the vintage a/c flown?
I don't think I have ever seen a Dauntless flying in the UK.

Cheers,

Jonno

Thanks Tony. Looks an excellent display schedule, and all for free! I think I need to get back to Pensacola.
...And where else would you find Randy Balls flying a Mig ?

Cheers,

Jonno

I did get some on video mate but I think Shirl got more than me. I will see what she got and if it's any good I will get it on here via YouTube.
