We have a Ford Focus that is over £600 for 5 years. It's a Focus, not a Lambo!

You're quite right - it's only the bad polluters that are better pre-2001. 2.8s (as you have shown are marginal).
The good news is - I don't have a post-2001 S54 engine

Not a z3 but my a40 farina free road tax and £17 a year fully comp insurance
My 2.5 2003 Z4 is £435, scandalous, but it's only taxed for another 7 months of the year.

£345 pa for my 3.0l V6 diseasel Merc GLE. But as it's registered as a disabled users vehicle, £0 pa
Looking at a Motability EV that is £10 pa paid by Motability. Otherwise £10 pa for Year 1, then £665 pa for years 2-5 if bought as a non Motability car. They wonder why EVs are not selling, and 2nd prices are low. A no brainer to go Motability EV, especially when married to home Solar PV and a battery, which possibly will have no cost for charging at home with certain tariffs. Insurance, maintenance, tyres, breakdown cover all included on the Motability Scheme.

FFS scandalous. They tax us at every angle. Long live the revolution.
Reading the Times today the motability scheme (which made £745m profit last year) is going to get a hiding in the next budget and so it should when you look at some of the vehicles available on motability. It's meant to get you from A to B. When my son told me what his wife got on motability I was amazed. In a roundabout way I paid for that.
