Hello! I’ve had my shoe for about a year now, and while I’ve used this forum for all sorts of things, I hadn’t thought to make an account until now.

A clown shoe has always been a bit of a dream of mine, and last year I had the chance to get a good project car. I traded my n54 135i for it, and while the performance difference was a little sad, the smiles per gallon (and miles per gallon…) are much better.

The car:
‘99 2.8 coupe in Boston Green.
It was in pretty rough shape when I got it: ripped up seats, lack of maintenance, high miles, droopy head liner, etc.

What I’ve done (so far):

Complete clean up. Someone hauled a dog in this thing. I had to completely disassemble the interior to get all the hair out.
Window tinting. I quickly learned this car is a bit like an oven in the southern heat. So tinting was absolutely needed.
Fix the head liner. what a pain!!
Wheels! These are apex Arc in matte bronze. 235/40 r18, 265/35 r18 rear.
My seats are currently being upholstered, so hoping to get them back soon!
General maintenance stuffs.

I have access to a pretty large 3d printer, so I’m hoping to scan and print some of the hard to find coupe parts, so I’ll keep everyone posted when I have some new things there.

It was what made me ultimately pull the trigger on buying one! I wanted either a Boston green or a Dakar yellow coupe, and since the latter is like finding a unicorn…

If you have the M52TÜB28 engine I highly recommend adding the M54 inlet manifold ... #ZedShed - MuttyMax’s Boston Green 2.8TU | BMW Z1 Z4 Z8 Z3 Forum and Technical Database - ZRoadster.org
I’ve been thinking about that. My exhaust is also pretty rusty, so I may need end up needing to buy headers when I drop the exhaust to tackle the flex disk.

I’m at 183k miles, and I have an LS1 set to swap in at some point down the line. So I’m not trying to do TOO much to this drive train.

But I do really like this engine… I’m hoping it never dies

It’s better to be involved than a voyeur.

Looks a nice coupe. None of those in the UK sadly.

None? Are roadsters pretty popular over there? I’m around 60miles from where the car was built, and seeing any sort of z3 is pretty rare here

The UK didn’t have any non M coupes. BMW said no. Lots of roadsters as the UK loves a convertible despite the generally poor weather. Rare to see one these days. You don’t see many 1997 cars like mine still in use.

Occasionally an import from Europe in left hand drive makes it over but quite uncommon for a coupe.
