x brace refurbishment

i did start painting this x brace and realised that to do the job properly it had to be taken off anyway 6 bolts and a soaking in the rain and its off this is my 2.8 project...

anyway give it a good clean up with poundland muc off equivalent and preceeded to give it a clean with grinder and and flap disk and drill and wire brush.. needs a bit more work tomorrow evening then a coating of rust inhibitor and red oxide and black gloss should sort this out

no before pics as forgot to take them but it was pretty bad after 21 years of salty brisrtish roads.

anti roll bars are next to do.....

yeah just wish i had a decent powder coaters around here. they all too expensive...

And most of them are rubbish.
I got a big lecture on this last year, by an old racer who's business had been powder coating.
Said almost all the companies now take the parts out as soon as the powder flows. Flex the part later and the coating flakes or cracks.
Secret apparently is that The Part must be heat soaked to the flow temp, then it bonds better to the surface and won't crack. Problem is, that takes more time and energy, takes longer to cool, so, throughput is less per oven.
I just use Hammerite/Smoothrite. Two/three coats and it last for years.
