Hi folks, I have a 5 year old X2 and when I set off and turn left or right, but worse when turning right, there is a vibration and rumbling noise coming from rear end which lasts a few seconds. Garage have had it up on ramps and out for drive but can't find anything...don't think it's tracking. Mentioned diff but don't seem confident of that....anyone experienced this...had everything out of boot to make sure nothing loose....aaarrrgghhh..

Find a quiet road/car park/trading estate where you can repeat the manoeuvre with a willing lunatic sitting in the back with the tailgate open?

Does the X2 have drum-type parking brakes like the Z3- shoes can come adrift...

[Don't try this at home children. At your own risk. I didn't suggest this. You haven't seen me.]

Ian, the brakes work on rear discs via electronic system handbrake...

My mate up the road had an X1 2.0 D and it had the dreaded diff. problem. Sounds like yours is doing the same things his did. Any warning lights on. Have you had a code reader hooked up?

Tony.

Last (only) time I had this it was when I forgot to tighten up wheel bolts.

wild shot. Swap wheels front to back and try again. (i had a wheel with a bad center once and nobody guessed until an old mechanic the one with the yellow nicotine fingers told me this could be the case.
It's the x drive...
and this could be exactly the problem. The Xdrive. Better check it at an authorized dealer. Sometimes they repair it under goodwill.
