Hello all and may I take this opportunity to wish you a happy new year!

So, I am seeking some advice please regarding 2 extra gauges for a Z3. I have a spare Z3 centre console and plenty of time on my hands so thought I might try and mod this console to accept 2 new gauges in place of the switches that sit left and right of the centre round clock.

I am looking for 52mm in size, analogue look with a chrome bezel and preferably comes with a matching or can be matched with a reccommended sensor (electric or mechanical) that will work to give an accurate reading.

I would also like the illumination to match the reddish glow of the other instruments. Bulb fitment preferable as this is easier to mod to get the right colour tinge.

I would like to fit a volt or ammeter on one side and a oil temp or pressure gauge on the other. For the latter I am considering 1/8 NPT fitment into a modified oil filter cap that accepts this size.

I see a number of tribute builders have fitted additional gauges so may have some recommendations as to what works bearing in mind the above. I am not really interested in buying Z3M gauges etc.

If anybody has a link to a website or retailer that they have used to maybe do the above would be really useful.

Modding, relocating, wiring, plumbing etc I already have a plan for.

Many thanks

I don't have any links or anything but here is a photo of mine.
The stock panels were cut where the clocks and bits were originally and modified to fit three gauges. After filler and paint it's not so bad and what I needed in the car.

Look at VDO guages and sensors - probably in the German and Swedish catalogue

Looks good.

I need to redue mine to get ride of the multiple switchs still fitted that dont do anyting. Only switch that functions is the top. Heated seats, traction control and the rest are just taking up space.

I only had 3 switches on my console, they all work but i never used them so they will be relocated to the back of the console. The alarm LED will be changed for a single bulb and moved elsewhere.

Don't know if this is an alternative for you but you could let someone print the lower console trim from a Z3M, looks best in my opinion. The files are available online, I think this seller is a member here:

I had considered that but I do not want the "M" lower console. I would have lost the chrome gear surround for the standard Zed. Now, if someone was to print a lower console that accepts switches, gauges and has the non "M" gear surround I might consider it.
