Picked up my first z3 last September, blue 3.0i manual with 105k miles that had been sitting in a field for a while. Mechanically good but paintwork was/is shot as someone has overpainted the original blue with a lighter shade and that is now starting to flake so a full respray is likely required. Fixed quite a bit so far but still lots to do. Loving the stock m54 engine and exhaust.

Welcome aboard...

That K&N air filter will help with the noise (slurpy slurp), but doesn't help with air intake temperatures. They get high when sat in traffic (ask me how I know). ;)

Ah so not recommended as right now the engine is running very nicely, never gets too hot

Hot air intake will adversely effect performance, usually when filters like that are used, they are protected from engine temps by some sort of baffle or shield.. I have though about doing it to mine, just so I can have room to move the catch can to the other side of my engine bay. Cold air is denser than warm or hot air.

Hi and :welcome: to the forum from me too in Stafford.
