I am Ray. About 17 years ago, I traded from a 2000 Z3 to a 1998M roadster and I love it. I'm the guy who spray-painted all the leather interiors on his car and it came out as though it was brand new from the BMW showroom. Some of it is worn away, and I gotta do another coating but all in all I love it with a tan interior. I'm in upstate New York and I do like getting in the car top down and heading to Vermont to New Hampshire, even by myself and spending a night someplace. I asked my vet if my dog, strapped in and sitting next to me with the top down, could "catch a cold" and he said that he had never been asked that question but he didn't think it was a problem. If I could handle it, the dogs to handle it. Anyway, I love driving in the car. I'm 77 now and I wish I had started it when I was 30 years younger. Stay safe everybody. Ray.

Nice story Ray. I've had a few dogs that have liked their head out the window, never a problem.

My dog Archie (profile picture) wears his harness clipped to one of these clipped into the seatbelt socket/receiver.

He sticks his head out the window when we're driving slowly through the country side. Not on the highway though - 70 mile an hour bee in the face won't be much fun.

I'm actually thinking of adding another seat belt socket/receiver to the outer side of the passenger seat. That way he can have enough slack to stand by the window but not enough to jump on me while I'm driving.

Welcome from Oxfordshire, England!

I didn’t know you could spray paint leather, and have it stick! One of the credentials for buying my z3 was tan interior. I love it!

M roadster and a dog sounds like a brilliant combination!
