I was intending to use the chrome windscreen trim on my car when I converted it.
The parts from BMW are extortionately expensive (no surprise there) and secondhand ones always seem to be damaged from removal.
So I used cheap chromed plastic self adhesive trim from eBay. You can get it in all widths to suit what you want to do.
I painted my windscreen surround matt black (it was originally blue), then used some trim. I used double trims on the A-posts to make it look like one was part of the door, but it comes in wide enough strips to do singles if required. Easy peasy to cut and joint and sticks very well.
