I actually questioned myself after posting so checked online. They didn't do the Metro in a gt. It was a 1275 SPORT! Yes a sport!

Maybe yours had an extra GT badge, were the GT police a thing then?

Passed mine in one of them.

Because synchromesh, power steering, comfort, visibility, servoed brakes, (and many other things) are for gurls.

I didn't take my civil test in one of those but when I wanted an RAF licence I was put in one of these and taken to drive around Bath.

I learnt to drive a car around woods in an old Morris 8 that a friend and I bought for £10. Then when I was old enough I learnt on the road in my 1947 Austin 10.Took my test in a Vauxhall Viva. My Dad had an A60 Cambridge as well @Mint!

i didnt know they made a 1275 gt, that was the clubman mini, or the mini cooper s, the metro was a 1300.
