Costs add up! Decided to replace my drivers side plinth as it was badly corroded. Went the X8R route, good quality, £86 with discount code. Noticed outer mirror cover was broken and 3 of the 4 screw fixing points were broken, so decided to replace with new, £31. Had cover and base repainted for £72 (very good job and perfect paint match). Just had to order new glass £49 as the original one won't resecure due to a broken tab (likely broken by me on removal, but don't recall). Total £238 - fortunately the near side is perfect! These mirror bases have a lot to answer for!

it would’ve bugged me knowing it was different
Sold my near side mirror on eBay for the same price as an X8R Mirror base so that side paid for itself!
That had crossed my mind also!
