What have you bought for your Zed this week?

Phoenix Alloys, in Bristol, charge was £460.
However bear in mind that if I had gone for a standard colour it would have been £400.
It's a lot, I agree particularly, as there are other things that the money should have been spent on !!
The photo's are defo not the best as they really don't show how grim the original finish was (front R had a slow puncture down to rim corrosion) and they don't really show how nice they are now. ''Shadow Chrome''
Most wouldn't do split rims and the only one that offered the service, other than phoenix, put the price up considerably once I queried the quote, ie pointed out the photo's I had sent were of split rims.
Price sounds about right. I'm torn between getting mine refurbished or getting another set of easier to clean wheels.

They are apparently quite sought after, and therefore not cheap, but lots of people don't want the extra aggravation of split rims.
If I am being honest I would not have been on my wish list but as they were original to the vehicle I couldn't bring myself to put anything else on.
I'm pleased I had them done. Best not 'kerb 'em' then eh ?

I love them but they are a pig to clean. I'm thinking of style 68 wheels as they also are available staggered. Probably just get mine refurbished if I can find someone local who will do them.

I would have thought Luton, as the automobile capital of the UK, would be a doddle to find a powder coat specialist

Finally found and purchased a good used left rear tail light assy…the original one on the car is badly crazed and would likely fail a WOF (our version of MOT).
By contrast, the right tail light is in great nick, so may have been replaced at some stage.
Was thinking of upgrading to clear indicator lights but no used ones are available here, and certainly can’t justify the expense of new ones.

Bought a pair of tail light bulbs after noticing one was out last night. Thought I would just check the left rear boot well for damp, and sure enough, it’s still getting water in from somewhere. Ended up taking the rear light clusters out to check for leaks there. Used double sided tape to reattach the rubber weatherstrip on one side that had come loose. Cleaned up the areas you don’t normally see.

Oh ek!

Tony.

Interesting this....I was going to come on and ask how to raise the passenger side ?
I needed to change out the blades and couldn't find any way to raise the arm, bonnet open or closed. needless to say I felt like a right idiot, managed to change the blade with the bonnet closed but a struggle compared to the drivers side:rolleyes:

You need to do it with the bonnet closed. Operate wipers so they are vertical, the turn off ignition so they stay there. Then you can lift them to change blades. Also, remember to make sure the bonnet is fully closed before operating wipers. Mine have very little clearance, so I once set off from a garage in the rain with bonnet not fully closed and one of the arms scraped the lip of the bonnet.

BMW zip up oil bag. Fits a 1l oil and has gloves and disposable funnels. I got it from a BMW bike dealer. It’s got Velcro on the side to stick to the inside of a bike pannier. Just over £5. The nearly identical Porsche item is about £30.

Thanks. I few even more stupid now, as I managed to raise both wiper arms from their (semi) horizontal positions. I suppose the damage was not only from closing the bonnet...

The skills of a paintless dent removal guy. Was over 10 just in the passenger door..one on rear wing and couple in the drivers door

I am expecting it to go much faster now 🤣
I've got similar, the guy I spoke with said it would be difficult to get at them, did your guy say it was easy/hard?

There is one he couldn't get right towards the front of the door that is still visible if you look hard. He'd done a few Zeds but said they weren't the easiest to do. He used a glue pull thing on the one on the wing. Three panels and 2 hours work for £120 I thought was pretty good. Other places were quoting per panel.

OK thanks sounds similar. I will need to book mine in to be sorted
